Email Id: sriniale@ag.tamu.eduBrief Profile: Dr. Srinivasulu Ale is an Associate Professor and Geospatial Hydrologist at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Center at Vernon, Texas, USA. He is also an affiliated faculty in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering at Texas A&M University (TAMU), College Station, Texas, USA. He has obtained his Ph.D. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Purdue University in Indiana, USA in 2009; M.Tech in Irrigation and Drainage Engineering from G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, India in 1992; and B.Tech. in Agricultural Engineering from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, Hyderabad, India in 1989. Before moving to USA, he has served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Engineering at Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) from 1993 to 2005.
Dr. Ale has extensive research experience in irrigation and drainage, and hydrologic, water quality and crop growth modeling. He has led or contributed to various research projects in the USA, India and the Netherlands over the last two and half decades. His research interests include: i) assessing the effects of changes in land use, land management and climate on hydrology and soil and water quality, ii) evaluation of the best management practices for protecting soil and water quality, iii) development of decision support tools for crop production under the current and future climate change scenarios, and iv) characterization of groundwater quantity and quality. He has authored/co-authored 56 journal articles, 2 book chapters, 87 conference papers, 20 research reports and 16 popular articles, and gave 15 invited talks/guest lectures as of June 2019. He has served as the Chair/Co-Chair on graduate committees of 5 Ph.D. and 7 M.S. students, and as a member on 14 graduate student committees.
Dr. Ale is a Fellow of Indian Water Resources Society (IWRS) and Indian Association of Hydrologists (IAH), and he is a life member of American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), Indian Society of Agricultural Engineers (ISAE) and Andhra Agricultural Union (AAU). He is also a member of the American Society of Agronomy (ASA), American Geophysical Union (AGU) and the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS). He has been professionally very active in ASABE and served in various leadership roles. He is currently serving as the Program Chair for the Natural Resources and Environmental Systems (NRES) Community in ASABE and Chair of Texas Section of ASABE (2018-2019). He has also been serving as an Associate Editor for ASABE Journals since 2013. He has reviewed more than 130 journal articles for over 30 international journals and served on several proposal review panels including USDA and NSF. He has won several awards including the Research Excellence Award of the Biological & Agricultural Engineering Department at TAMU (2014), Outstanding Reviewer for ASABE Journals (2012), Outstanding Ph.D. student of Agricultural and Biological Engineering department at Purdue University (2008), and the Young Scientist award of ANGRAU (2003).
