    Brief Profile: Dr. P. Surendra Babu a Soil Scientist working as Principal Scientist and Head, AICRP on micronutrients has a rich teaching, research and administrative experience of 31 years in various positions at Micronutrients, STCR & Radiotracer Laboratory , PJTSAU, Technical Secretary to Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, PJTSAU, Remote Sensing Applications Centre , Lucknow, Karnataka Remote Sensing Application Centre, Bengaluru. He has worked on several projects viz Map Macro & Micronutrients Fertility of Soils in Telangana state, Saving of P-Fertilizers dosages in different crops in P-accumulated soils, Zinc fortification for different crops in different seasons, Site specific nutrient management for our farmers’ conditions in different crops and soils, Fertilizer dosage and INM for crops like Rice, Maize, Pulses, Fodder crops, Groundnut and Sunflower, Measurement of Root activity of rice crop in SRI and flooded conditions and its impact on nutrient mining and fertilizer requirement to SRI-Rice (using isotopes), Enhancing Zn-Fertilizer Use efficiency with organics, Novel Method for estimating contribution of zinc from soil and applied zinc (soil & spray) without spraying Zn-65 isotope etc.

    He is a member of Indian Society of Soil Science, New Delhi, Member of Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Dehra Dun and Member of Indian Science Congress, Kolkatta. He has published 40 research articles and presented 20 papers in several symposia / seminars. He is a recipient of several awards viz. National Award in the Form of Ranade Memorial Award for Best Research in Micronutrients (Senior Category) (2013), Meritorious Research Award of ANGRAU (2006), Best Poster Presentation of Research Paper (2013 at ISSS convention, Jodhpur) and Best Poster on High-P and Maize crop presentation at 12th Asian Maize Conference (2014), Bangkok.
