    Brief Profile: Rao Mylavarapu is the Professor of Sustainable Nutrient Systems in the Soil and Water Sciences Department, University of Florida. He also serves as the Director of the statewide IFAS Analytical Services Laboratories with over $1 million budget and nearly 20 employees. His over 30 years of experience also included work at Clemson University and USDA-ARS as soils specialist working on crop nutrient requirements and water quality. His program at UF has been successful in obtaining over $17 million in collaborative grants authored over 150 research and extension book chapters and publications. His mentored 16 graduate as the Committee Chair and 14 others as a member. His program hosted scientists, including a Fulbright scholar, and students from over 12 countries. He served as President of Soil & Plant Analysis Council and as the Chair of Nutrient Management and Soil and Plant Analysis Division, Soil Science Society of America, and also as the leader of the USDA-NIFA-SERA-IEG-6 on Nutrient Analysis & Interpretation and Nutrient Management Team of 14 southern states in the US under Southern Regional Water Program. He also leads the IFAS Certified Crop Adviser training program and the Florida Phosphorus Index Committee. He serves on the Editorial Boards of three international scientific journals. He is the recipient of UF Term Professorship, UF Faculty Enhancement Award for collaborative work with CSIRO, Australia in Adelaide, IFAS LEAD Certificate, Hornsby Extension Professorial Award, among others.
